What Can Golf Organisations Do?
Over the last decade environmental issues have been very closely considered by a wide range of organisations within the golf sector. The greenkeepers, architects, governing bodies and federations, golf course owners, secretaries, event organisers, manufacturers, educational providers and research institutes have all been looking closely at their particular role in developing environmental stewardship within golf.
It is of course vital that these diverse parts of the golf 'sector' take time to identify the interaction between their members and the environment, and develop their own organisational policies and projects to take things forward.
The International and European bodies can often take a useful lead on this, by setting out environmental policies and action plans which cascade down through national affiliates to local practitioners. The greenkeeping associations and golf federations are good examples of this.
Golf Environment Europe is delighted to work with golf organisations to assist them in identifying how they and their members interact with the environment, and in establishing organisational policies and action plans which form part of the overall 'sectoral' effort.
