The ECOManagement process is based on five key steps:
1. Environmental Policy and Working Group: To participate, a golf facility will first need to make a policy commitment endorsed by its membership. This should include a statement of intent to improve environmental performance, to establish an Environment Team to manage the project, and to carry out an environmental review.
2. Environmental Audit: This looks at the current environmental situation and forms the basis for introducing appropriate conservation measures.
3. Environmental Management Plan: A comprehensive management plan, containing environmental aims, objectives, policies and practical action plans.
4. Environmental Statement: The presentation on an official summary of environmental activities set against a series of basic requirements, environmental achievements and which sets out a comprehensive list of future targets.
5. Environmental Review: After a maximum of three years, progress will be evaluated to assess whether initial targets have been achieved. |
