GEE ECOManagement Certification:

1. Via a national golf environment initiative:
If you are working through a national scheme which is affiliated to the GEE ECOManagement programme, then you may have received different levels of recognition along the way. Once you receive the highest level of achievement in your national system, you will immediately be eligible to become part of the pan European ECOManagement Programme. This will allow you to adopt the ECOManagement label and actively promote your participation in the scheme.

2. Directly with Golf Environment Europe:
If you do not have access to an affiliated national programme and have been working through ECOManagement in direct contact with Golf Environment Europe, then you should submit your environmental statement to us at the contact details listed on this website. We will then arrange for one of our Certifications Team to contact you to arrange a suitable date to visit your course and evaluate your programme. At this stage a Verification Fee will be agreed, which will be sufficient to cover the costs of verification and administration of the programme. It will be no more than €3000, but will more likely be between €1000 and €2000.

EMAS - European Commission Eco Management and Audit Scheme:
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Please note: This is not a pre-requisite for GEE ECOManagement Certification

Formal accreditation through EMAS involves a process of Registration and Verification by independent EMAS verifiers.

The process is as follows:

1. Registration: Register your Environmental Statement with your national official EMAS body - details available from www.europa.eu.int/comm/environment/emas

There will be a small cost to register your environmental management programme with EMAS.

2. Verification: Contact an authorised EMAS verifier. They exist in all European Countries. This will normally be an environmental consultant. There will be a cost attached to formal EMAS verification, which will vary on the location and size of your course and the complexity of your environmental programme.

3. Reporting: The verifier will liaise with the EMAS body, and recommend full accreditation if your Environmental Programme is up to required standard.

4. Accreditation: On successful verification, the golf facility will be entitled to the many benefits of becoming a fully certified, European Commission EMAS site.

At this stage the facility is an accredited EMAS site. The golf facility will be able to publicly promote this widely recognised accolade along side its certification in the Golf Environment Europe ECOManagement Programme.
