Directly with Golf Environment Europe: EMAS - European Commission Eco Management and Audit Scheme: Formal accreditation through EMAS involves a process of Registration and Verification by independent EMAS verifiers. The process is as follows: 1. Registration: Register your Environmental Statement with your national official EMAS body - details available from www.europa.eu.int/comm/environment/emas There will be a small cost to register your environmental management programme with EMAS. 2. Verification: Contact an authorised EMAS verifier. They exist in all European Countries. This will normally be an environmental consultant. There will be a cost attached to formal EMAS verification, which will vary on the location and size of your course and the complexity of your environmental programme. 3. Reporting: The verifier will liaise with the EMAS body, and recommend full accreditation if your Environmental Programme is up to required standard. 4. Accreditation: On successful verification, the golf facility will be entitled to the many benefits of becoming a fully certified, European Commission EMAS site. At this stage the facility is an accredited EMAS site. The golf facility will be able to publicly promote this widely recognised accolade along side its certification in the Golf Environment Europe ECOManagement Programme. |
